You can't use svg files with the free version of silhouette studio, but by converting svgs to dxf files, you can use them without upgrading to the designer. Open the file you would like to convert. Convert the silhouette studio file format to the svg format as used by inkscape and other vector editing applications. File menu, open, select your svg file.
